« on: February 20, 2011, 11:06:37 PM »
hey guys new to the forums. i have a 1991 subaru brumby. i want to work on building it up. am just wondering on how important it is concidered to get bigger tires then 15inch. i realise there pretty small. and im not planning on doing massive hill climbs etc.

just curious. also if possible could someone point me in the direction of some pics of like 2 4 and 6 inch lift jobs on brumbys.

thanks in advance

Standard tyre outside diameter for the older Subaru's running 175/70R13 is about 23 inches. The biggest you'd want to go with in Australia would be a 215/75R14, 27 inch OD. Also in Australia you can't go over 2 inch lift legally. And I know someone who had their car defected even with just 2 inch.

You won't get a lot further offroad with just bigger tyres I believe. But with small tyres you may end up rubbing the under body on things like rocks. I've never done any bad damage doing that though, just marks and some dents under there.
