Thanks Phizinza, very helpful
So the EJ25 will need the chassis mod as well? What model subaru's can I find this engine in? Was it in the Outback's, Liberty's or Forester's? With the headgaskets, does it mean once they are replaced they won't have anymore problems or is it a lifetime regular occuring problem that is likely to happen again?
I was looking at your thread on the radius rod mod and am thinking that is a great idea. I'll definately be looking at that.
So basically i'm better off running a Liberty type setup rather than Impreza like most do?

General Subaru / Bent rear diff bracket
« on: September 10, 2009, 07:11:31 PM »
Replaced the diff bracket on the Brumby today after changing the oil and noticed it a bit out of shape. It looked like it had been bent for awhile because the rubbers were seriously worn. Not sure what the previous owner was doing but i'm sure it must have been a 4WD incident. Anyone seen this occuring before?
Have a look at the bend it has compared with the replacement one

Well i'm leaning towards street I think as I have just bought another Brumby with rego which is a little worse for wear so i'm thinking of keeping that as the offroad vehicle and building a nice street Brumby with this one.
So i'll be looking at decent handling (well as good as it can be with a brumby), good power etc. Thinking of lowering it a little but nothing over the top. It's currently a stripped shell so the obvious solution would be to go EJ20 but I am thinking that will take a lot longer to complete the project.

Any suggestions would be muchly appreciated

Okay, glad you're all sorted out. They are different to the one we got anyway. We needed a male driver rather than those female socket type

Hey mate
We recently bought one of these tools to change the oil in my brother's 06 Impreza gearbox/diff. We spoke to the guy in at "Subicare" in our town who used to work for Subaru. He said that Subaru put these plugs in to encourage people to go to their dealerships to get the service done.

Anyway to get the point we ended up getting it from Trade Tools in town. Not sure if you have one of these franchises down your way. If not i'm happy to buy one for you and mail it to you. Is the plug you want to undo, male or female torx?

Hey mate. I thought I'd put these photos up that I took of an old wagon that was parked near me at the WRC at Northen NSW on the weekend. I like the number plates and the little red sticker next to the rear number plate saying "my other car is a shitbox".

I've recently become the owner of a 1991 Brumby shell in excellent condition (for a shell). It has no running gear but the body is really good with no rust, dints or faults that I can find. This is my next project I have started on. I haven't decided where I want to go with it yet, that's why I am trying to work out my options as I go. I can't decide whether I want to build a completely original Brumby or go with the 4WD aspect or even street EJ20 conversion.
Any comments or advice I should consider?
